This was because of the line in Psalm 60 : 'Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe:'. Moab was one of the middle eastern Kingdoms in the time of the Old Testament, and Israel did not like Moab or the Moabites, they claimed God didn't like Moab either!
