Families

I read three books this week about family relations. I am going to review them in three different posts, so I can give them each justice. The first is a memoir, and the most informative and funny book, "Corked", by Kathryn Borel.

I swear these people put the fun in dysfunction! A Father-Daughter road trip to France, is the setting for this wonderful tale. Phillipe Borel, a hotelier and wine expert, and his daughter Kathryn, a writer, embark on an odyssey through the wine country of France, fighting and loving each other, with Kathryn learning about more than wine.

Kathryn is on the tail end of a broken relationship, when she decides to travel with her funny, crazy, wonderful Father on a road trip of over 1000 kilometers, for wine tastings. Meeting wine makers, touring the vineyards, drinking, eating and yes, even barfing, their trip sounds like just the ticket!

If you are looking for a book that is funny, charming, heartwarming and even informative, this one's for you. The descriptions are wonderful, you can smell the warm grapes, and the rich earth, as you read. This is how I travel, without the car sickness, or hassles at the airport.

Amusez-vous !
