This book is for you, your sister, your mom, your book club and anyone who loves a good story!
It is the story of women, family and a town, all brought together by a mysterious and ugly bag of fermenting batter that magically bakes up into Amish Friendship Bread. Darien Gee captures the small town feel, in her Avalon, and lets us peek in the windows, into the lives of the women who live there.
One woman, grieving the loss of her son, another coping with the breakup of her marriage, and yet another trying to make a go of her business.
Friendship Bread appears mysteriously and literally takes over the town, getting to the point where friends avoid each other, for fear of getting more, starter. When disaster strikes, the entire town comes together, and Friendship Bread saves the day.
Gee has just the right tone, and sets her stage perfectly. The characters are believable, as well as wonderful!
I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves a good story with a huge dose of heart. (and Friendship Bread)
