Yet another disaster befalls me

This has to be brief since I am in pain. I managed to fall and broke my OTHER shoulder. As many of you know I broke my left shoulder last year. This year it is the right one. I guess I was going for symmetry. I am woefully behind on reviews, but am hoping to get someone to type them for me...I will return ASAP.

Recovery

After my surgery, on Easter Sunday, which was also my 35th wedding anniversary, my gift (in addition to Big Red)was a visit to see my Dad, in Springhill Louisiana. I got to recover from my surgery in the comfort of Tinkerbell (our motor home), and in the strong arms of my Daddy. We had a wonderful visit, eating too much, and getting some reading done. Not as much as I had hoped, though. I came home to over 1000 posts in my Google Reader. Yikes! Never take a vacation during a Read-a-thon!!

I am down to 700 so am doing pretty well. And I am feeling much better. It was a rough few days, but everything is feeling so much better.

The best thing on the trip was the free wi-fi at rest stops. We never stayed long enough to get much done, but I managed to keep up with some email. Being disconnected was harder than I expected.

I am back and reading, so should have some fun reviews soon.

THIS IS IT

I am happy to be getting this over with. I am not happy to be so nervous. My rational mind knows all will be well, but my little kid mind worries about getting my face burned off, catching some super bug or flesh eating virus, and the ever present possibility of not waking up.

Here is how I hope it goes.....count backward from 100.....99...98...zzzzzzzzzzzz. Then waking up all finished, wrapped in a warm blankie.

Maybe they can do a tummy tuck and lap band while they are in there.

Doctor Strange....No love

I have to go to the Doc to see if I am well enough to have surgery. So they send me a letter saying everything I need to do...No eating after midnight for blood tests, wear comfortable clothes, bring meds, make sure you have an advanced directive in place along with a medical power of attorney in place.....wait, what? Am I going to die? Is it that dangerous? It's a hernia for Gods sake. Granted it is a big one, but WTF? Now they have me scared!

I have had several surgeries, and have no recall about having legal papers in place. I have signed many consent forms, stating that it is okay if I die, but this is really getting scary. Maybe I need to make a will. Maybe I need to cancel the surgery and live with the hernia. Maybe I need to go on vacation.

Have things changed so much since my last surgery, a few years ago? Maybe I was drugged when I signed papers, and don't remember. Just weird.

Do they still sell trusses?

I seem to have coughed and sneezed myself into a hernia...sigh. I have been feeling bad for so long, I had hoped it would all just go away. Now I get to go to the nice Doc who works for the crappy insurance company. They have messed up so much on my disability insurance, I hesitate to trust them with my hernia. (or whatever this thing is) At least it is a new year and the cafeteria plan is full for the year. At the rate we are falling apart, it won't last very long. My advice to you is................DON"T GET OLD!!
