Heart Shaped Box

Joe Hill has written a really good story that took me back to the days when I first read his fathers books. The story of a jaded rocker who buys a ghost online, was so inventive and fresh, and I loved the new voice he brings to the "horror" genre. Of course I also loved that there were dogs involved. I just love books where the animals help humans, don't ask me why. Joe Hill reminded me of Stephen King when he was fresher, and I had not read much horror. The complications that begin as soon as the purchase arrives, wreak havoc on the life of Jude Coyne, aging rocker, his assistant, and his girlfriend. This was a can't put down, edge of the seat, don't read in the dark, type of book, that I can highly recommend. Even if you think you are not a horror fan, the story grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go until the very end!
