Past Perfect

Never try to write anything while watching the horror show they call "Bridezillas". I just erased everything in the blink of an eye as I pounded the keyboard in frustration. Why would anyone marry these awful women? I just pity the poor fools who marry the hideous women on this show. One was sucking her thumb like a 1 year old, one was a lying cursing B****. ICK!!!! I would hope if I ever acted like that, someone, anyone would freaking slap me!

OK, I am calmer and can go on with my review rewrite. Reading "Past Perfect" by Susan Isaacs, reminded me of the first book of hers I ever read, "Compromising Positions". One phrase always stuck with me...MYOB. This was one of those stories where the heroine, Katie Schottland, would have been better off heeding that warning. Katie, smart and funny, is a successful author, whose book has been turned into a successful TV show called "Spy Guys".Katie, of course, knows about spies, since she used to work in the CIA. She was unceremoniously fired but went on with her life, until a call from a woman she used to work with, but did not trust, sent her on a quest to learn the truth about her firing. As she searches for clues and for the missing caller, she lands in the middle of murder, mayhem, and suspense. No one can write both serious and funny in the same story, like Isaacs. This was a definite fun ride!

Next up is "Underworld" by Don DeLillo, if I can lift it.

  1. I've taken to carrying a large notebook with me (a paper version not electronic) so that I can jot down notes of things I want to cover later in my reviews. Now if I hit that delete button, I have something to go back to. (learned the hard way).

  3. I've read two books by Isaacs that I liked very much: Compromising Positions (also a good movie, good cast) and Shining Through (bad movie)

  4. Hi!
I have only read one of her books, and I liked it lots. This one is going on my TBR list, which is growing out of proportion. Thanks for stopping by my place. Take Care!!
