Blindness

This is a book that is stunningly written. Simple and complex at the same time. Many people have disliked it because of the graphic images, but it is such an important part of the story, absolutely necessary. It surprised me that I compared it to the tragedy in the Gulf coast. The poor homeless people who had lost everything, herded into inadequate facilities, with gangs robbing, and according to news reports, raping. The government's inability to get a handle on the situation was very much on my mind as I read this book. The bravery and love in the story were very close to first person tales I heard when I was in Louisiana. I heartily recommend this book, although it is an adult read, it is a story well worth reading.
