I am not a teenage boy, or a rich man, or a professional collector, but this book really fascinated me. Michael O"Keefe and Teri Thompson have written an amazing account about the Honus Wagner baseball card as well as the collectable industry. What started out as a sweet, all American hobby has turned into a really ugly business, with no conscience, no high ground and no accountability. The shady history of the most sought after card was as interesting as any novel, and the writing was excellent. Even if you are not a baseball fanatic, the history of cards and sellers, and the players who made them desirable, is compelling.
