Blogging tips for Newer Bloggers

I may not be the best person to give advice, but here it goes.

DON"T GIVE UP! If you enjoy blogging, and getting to know other bloggers, don't let the glamour and glitz get the better of you. The followers will come, sometimes slowly and sometimes all in a bunch. Be patient. If you love it just do it, for yourself!

MAKE FRIENDS! Chat up folks in Twitter, leave comments, be honest and friendly.

BE POLITE! Always thank the people who help you, be it other bloggers, or authors and publishers. Always say thank you. ( for the consideration, for the book, for the opportunity to work with you, etc)

Blogging is supposed to be fun! Always remember that!! Put some of yourself into your blog, you WILL find your voice and your followers.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Armchair BEA- Relationships

Nurturing relationships...and they do need to be nurtured. Such a good topic!

I have been extremely lucky to have good working relationships with several publishers and publicists, as well as some authors, that I have maintained over time. I must also say that I have lost a few, for reasons unknown. I have tried to read in a timely manner, print honest reviews, and I always, always thank them!

Other bloggers, not so much.....I have tried to Tweet with no replies (I assume I get lost in the shuffle), I visit many blogs, I leave comments (the life blood of many bloggers) and I think you have to be polite and respectful to everyone.

When I started blogging, there were not nearly as many Book Bloggers out here in the blogosphere, and I had  better relationships with my fellow bloggers. I think it is like going from a small high school to a big college, you try to make friends, but there is not enough time. I know this probably sounds needy, and maybe it is...I need advice on how to make my relationships better within our community.

As I have been reading the responses on sites, there is much good advice and I am going to attempt to follow some of it.

Enough whining....I need to go and do some visiting and leave some comments! Maybe even make some new friends!!

BEST OF 2011 SO FAR

I have several favorites that I have read in 2011. They may not actually be from 2011...hope that's not cheating!

My favorite book so far this year is.....

Open Wounds by Joe Lunievicz - it is coming out this month and is perfect Ya crowd, boys and girls alike as well as adults! Review coming.

Just Kids by Patti Smith was terrific!

Angel Burn by L.A. Weatherly-A really good YA book

Bullet Work by Steve O'Brien- Horse racing, who knew?

A Pointed Death-Kath Russell

I know it's only 5 but I have been sick, I am much better so maybe I can catch up later!

Joemmama reads too much in her cozy bed

I am Joemmama and I am a compulsive reader. This is the support group, right?? I found the coffee urn and the cookies and I see all the folding chairs, so this must be the place!  I have been blogging since 2006, mostly about books with a little me thrown in for good measure. I usually read and blog from my bed, propped up on many soft pillows, with a steaming cup of coffee nearby. I am handicapped (plus recovering from the pox) and could not go to NYC for the real thing, so I am tickled pink to be able to participate from my cozy bed! I look forward to reading some new blogs as well as my old favorites. Thanks for stopping by! I have some great reviews coming up!!
